Later, we head to the stunning Hatu Peak, the highest point around Narkanda.

Day 3: Narkanda to Sarahan to Sangla

After a refreshing morning in Narkanda, we begin our scenic drive towards Sarahan.
Our first highlight is a visit to the famous Bhimakali Temple, a stunning example of traditional Himachali architecture with a history stretching back over 1,500 years.

After breakfast in Sangla, we set out for a short but stunning drive to Chitkul, the last inhabited village near the Indo-Tibet border, sitting proudly at 3,400 meters.

Today promises to be one of the most exciting and memorable days of our Spiti journey, as we explore some of the highest inhabited places in the world.
After breakfast, we set out for a day of high-altitude village hopping. Our first stop is Hikkim, a small, charming village known for its incredible claim to fame — it houses the world’s highest post office.
Here, you will have a rare opportunity to send a postcard to your loved ones, stamped from this remote corner of the world. Imagine the joy when your friends or family receive a message that has traveled all the way from the Himalayas.
Next, we drive up to Komic, officially one of the world’s highest motorable villages. At around 4,513 meters, life here moves at a different rhythm, untouched by the rush of the cities. Visit the Tangyud Monastery, one of Spiti’s most significant monasteries, and soak in the peaceful energy that fills the village.
From Komic, we descend towards Langza, often called the “village guarded by Buddha.”
As you approach, you will be welcomed by the sight of a giant Buddha statue sitting atop a hill, watching over the entire valley. The landscapes here are wide open and surreal, offering fantastic opportunities for photography. Langza is also famous for its fossils — millions of years ago, this region was submerged under the Tethys Sea, and even today, locals sometimes find marine fossils embedded in the soil.

Today is one of the most beautiful and exciting days of our journey, as we leave behind the town of Kaza and head deeper into the magic of Spiti’s highlands.
After breakfast, we begin the day with a visit to Key Monastery, Spiti’s largest and most iconic monastery, perched dramatically on a hilltop overlooking the valley. As we step inside, you’ll immediately feel the peaceful energy of this ancient place. Explore the beautifully decorated prayer halls, the old murals, and if we’re lucky, catch a glimpse of the monks going about their daily rituals. Don’t miss the panoramic view from the monastery terrace — the endless Spiti Valley stretching out below is a sight to remember.
From Key, we continue our journey toward Chicham Bridge. This is not just any bridge — it’s one of Asia’s highest suspension bridges, hanging 4,145 meters above sea level. As we drive across, you’ll see deep gorges beneath and endless mountain landscapes around — a thrilling yet stunning experience that’s a favorite for photography enthusiasts.
After crossing Chicham, we make our way toward the Kunzum Pass (subject to weather conditions). Spending a night near Chandratal is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience — but keep in mind, you are camping at over 4,200 meters in the Himalayas.

You will be staying in comfortable Swiss tents, complete with cozy bedding and attached bathrooms — a rare luxury at such high altitudes. The tents are weather-proof and provide good insulation against the nighttime cold.

Our first highlight today is a stop at Sissu, a picture-perfect Himalayan village straight out of a postcard. Nestled along the banks of the Chandra River, Sissu is known for its cascading waterfalls, vast meadows, and peaceful vibes. It’s a great place to stretch your legs, breathe in the fresh mountain air, and grab a few beautiful photographs.

We first drive through the Kullu Valley, known for its apple orchards, pine forests, and the Beas River flowing alongside the road. If time permits, you can explore the local Kullu market for some authentic souvenirs.
Further down, we reach Mandi, often called the “Varanasi of the Hills” because of its 80+ old stone temples. The town sits beautifully on the banks of the Beas River, offering a glimpse into Himachal’s rich heritage. En route, we can stop for a quick tea break or stretch our legs while soaking in the historic vibe.
Continuing along the scenic highway, we travel through Sundernagar, famous for its large artificial lake and beautiful views. It’s a perfect shortstop to admire the stillness of the water against the backdrop of hills.
